Obituary of Noreen Ruth Petro
Passed away on December 31, 2024, at University Gates in Waterloo at the age of 90.
She is survived by her children David (Anita Gatti) and Ron (Isabel); grandchildren Adam and Michael; Claire, Corinna, and Luke; sisters Jean Jackson (late George), Margaret Dingman (Chuck) and Muriel Kneeshaw; as well as nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her husband, George (2009), and her parents, Wilfred and Amanda Kneeshaw.
Married for 45 years, Noreen and George made friends all over Ontario, living in Ottawa, Toronto, Bancroft, North Bay, and Bradford, finally settling in Kitchener in 2000. As a teacher, wife, mother and sister, Noreen held many people close to her heart. As the eldest of 18 first cousins, Noreen was the matriarch of the family and renowned for her storytelling and memory of family history. She gave selflessly in any way she could: helping with a meal, picking up a child from school or attending to anyone ill. Noreen lived her life in gratitude, regularly sending notes of thanks.
Special thanks to the staff at Terrace on the Square, Luther Village and University Gates for their compassion and care over Noreen's 8-year journey through assisted living and long-term care.
