Gary Strauss peacefully passed away on Monday January 6th, 2025, at Grand River (Freeport) Hospital, Kitchener at the age of 67. Gary will be fondly remembered by his dear friends, Stefan Babic (and his family), Ado Ounpuu, Donna Wills, Lydia Winterstein, Karen Cochrane, Hans & Christie Malthaner and Sean & Debbie Thomas. Gary was predeceased by his parents Gerhardt and Hedi Strauss.

Gary was born in Fort William (Thunder Bay) and in his younger days, worked with his parents in their butcher shop.  The family eventually left the butcher business and invested in real estate.  Gary worked hard maintaining the family business looking after numerous multi-unit residential properties.  Gary loved the outdoors; he was an avid fisherman and enjoyed hunting during moose season; however, his real passion was riding his Harley Davidson.

Those who knew Gary describe him as a very kind man who always looked out for his friends and neighbours.  He took meticulous care of his Harleys, his garden and everything he owned.  He would also take care of the maintenance and repairs of his close friends’ motorcycles, boats, equipment, etc., whether he was asked to or not. He will be missed by many.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, January 18th, 2025, from 11:00 to 11:45 am.  A celebration of life will follow in the funeral home’s chapel at 12:00 pm, followed by a reception in the Fireside Reception Room.
