Obituary of Neil James Fraser
Neil passed away peacefully at Hamilton General on January 13, 2025, at the age of 61. He was the beloved husband of Maureen and the cherished father of Graeme (Jenna) of Vancouver Island, and Liam at home.
Neil was a dear brother to David and his wife Darla from Mono, and a loving uncle to Richard (Tessa) of Owen Sound and Ian (Madison) of Waterloo. He was predeceased by his father James (2008), mother Edel (2013) and brother Ian, at birth.
He was a brother-in-law to Patrick (Kim), Brian (Janet), and Bradley, and uncle to nephews Stuart, Brenden, Elliott, and nieces Ashley (Andrew), Rebecca, and Madison. Neil was also the best son-in-law to his mother-in-law Elizabeth (Betty) Cairney.
Neil's extended family includes Uncle Fred Fleisher (late Jill) of Oakville, cousins Christine (Darren) and their children Emma and Jack of Burlington, and Andrew (Kirsten) and their children Tyson and Damon of Calgary.
He will be deeply missed by his close friends and his running group, the “Running Boyz”. Neil was highly respected by his colleagues at Deluxe Canada, where he worked as a DevOps Specialist. Neil was extremely fortunate to have joined his cousins Manfred (Daniela), Wolfgang, Karin (Stefen), Joachim (Daniela), and Elke (Uli) of Germany on many enjoyable vacations.
Neil enjoyed cycling, running, reading a good book and travel. He was truly fortunate to have experienced many adventures in his short life.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the exceptional doctors, nurses, and staff at the Neuro Trauma ICU at Hamilton General.
Cremation has taken place. Friends, relatives, and loved ones are invited to a visitation at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Sunday, January 19, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday, January 20, 2025, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., with a memorial service in the chapel of the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room.
