Obituary of Wilhelmine Berschl

Wilhelmine (Helma) Berschl will be lovingly remembered by her beloved husband Ludwig, her children, Robert, his wife Kelly and their daughters Jasmyn (Helma’s great granddaughter Riley) and Jaydn, her daughter Lore McGuire and her husband James, brother-in-law Walter, his wife Elizabeth, sister-in-law Cecilia, along with extended family near and far.

She is joined in rest by her mother, Johanna, her father, Karl, and her brother Helmut, brother-in-law Jacob & sisters-in-law Marianne, Edith & Thelma and nephew Dean - along with many other loved ones throughout her life.  With a sociable nature, Helma attracted friends like a magnet and touched a wide number of individuals; she was cherished deeply by many.

Helma, known for her caring nature, persistence that allowed her to excel at anything and everything she set her mind to, an enviable green thumb, exquisite tailoring capability and wonderful cooking - said her final goodbye January 13, 2025. Born on November 12, 1936, in Salzburg, Austria, she made Canada her home after immigrating in 1956 to marry Ludwig, her life partner of 68 years.

Helma’s strength, resilience, and generosity, punctuated by common sense will be sorely missed in those whose lives she touched.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S, Waterloo, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s RC Church, 56 Duke St. W., Kitchener, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow with luncheon served.
