Obituary of Dorothy Oliver

With profound sadness we announce the passing of our cherished friend Dorothy Mae Oliver, age 67 on October 6, 2011 at Freeport Hospital, Kitchener after a short battle with cancer. Pre-deceased by her parents Angus and Mae Oliver and a sister Jean Rattigan, she leaves a brother-in-law Tom Rattigan, a niece and two nephews. For many years Dorothy was a teacher/librarian at Rosemount and King Edward schools. After retirement she became interested in the Japanese art of flower arranging, Ikebana. Her studies were enriched by a visit to Kyoto, Japan in 2008 and in 2010 she was granted the title of instructor by the Ikebana headquarters in Kyoto. For the last 16 years she was a member of the Ikebana Society of Hamilton where she was noted for her design work and her kindness. Fiona and Kobi, her two adored cats, have been adopted into a loving home in Stratford. Dorothy is remembered with fondest love by Dr. Arnold Goldberg, Diane and Paul Marr and Ivy Le Maguer. She was a good neighbour and generous friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Many thanks to Dr .Schwartz and the nursing staff on Palliative Care in Freeport Hospital for the kindness and care given to Dorothy in her final months. Cremation has taken place.
