Her passion was to help others, despite her personal suffering; and she did this continually and quietly with many individuals and also through her favourite charities. Camilla worked tirelessly for the St. Mary's Festival of Trees and Lights every year from its inception for eighteen years until its conclusion and she continued to support St. Mary's in all of their fund raisers. For many years, Camilla and her father Lloyd teamed together each year to deliver Christmas hampers for the House of Friendship. Even after her Fathers death, Camilla continued with this annual tradition of helping to prepare and deliver the Christmas hampers for the House of Friendship. Camilla was deeply devoted and attached to the Sisters of the Carmel of St. Joseph and served faithfully on the Women's Guild organizing the many events held annually in support of the Carmel. Camilla was also an active and faithful member of the Catholic Women's League of St. Louis Church. Camilla left a powerful lesson for everyone on how to live life and fight cancer, with dignity, grace, poise and determination. Camilla's family would like to thank all of Camilla's care givers in particular Dr. Nadia Califaretti and her assistant Pat Bieronski; Nadia and Pat we can never thank you enough for how you cared for Camilla, Dr. Paul Sharkey a close personal friend, Dr. Senti Senthelal, Dr. Vasanth Basrur; Dr. Ahmed Jakda and Dr. Lois McLaughlin both of whom personally attended to Camilla's palliative care and to Nurse Becky Conrad and Nurse Jennifer Quest who were so kind and gentle with Camilla in her last days. The family also wishes to thank all the care givers and staff from the Grand River Cancer Centre, including Anne Schmidt and all of the nurses, staff and volunteers. We saw you all so often for years and you cared for Camilla so gently and compassionately and professionally; thank you. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Patricia LoRusso and Denise Weiss and their research and infusion teams from the Karmanos Cancer Center in Detroit. In the last year of her life Camilla was a participant in a Stage I Clinical Trial at Karmanos for a new breast cancer drug TDM-1. Eventually the cancer progressed. Camilla's comment on being advised was once again totally selfless and it was her hope that she had contributed in a small way to the development of this new drug to help extend the lives of future combatants. Condolences for the family or donations to Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, St. Mary's General Hospital Foundation, Carmelite Monastery, and the House of Friendship Christmas Hamper Program would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy and may be arranged through the funeral home, www.erbgood.com or 519.745.8445.
