Obituary of Peter Playford

Passed away after a brief illness at K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Monday, October 17, 2011 at the age of 80. Predeceased by his beloved wife, Lois (nee Conway) in 2008; parents, Elias and Belle (Kinzie) Playford; brothers, John (Jack) Playford and Don Playford; and Lois' son, Jeffery Evans. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Peter is survived by Lois' sisters, Denice McDonald and husband Steven of Baden and Doris Schaefer and husband Clarence of Kitchener; Lois' children, Rick Evans of Sparwood, B.C., Susan and her husband Wayne Neitzel of Kincardine, and James (Bud) Evans of Kitchener; and grandchildren, Joey Neitzel and wife Brooke, Joshua Neitzel and wife Emily, Jeremiah Neitzel and wife Alex, James Neitzel and wife Tracey, Meagen Evans, and Brenden Evans. Peter is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews and their families. Special thanks to nephews, James and David for their care of Peter during his illness. Peter worked in the insurance industry for his entire career. He was involved in the Kiwanis Club of Elmira for numerous years and enjoyed travelling, specifically camping. Peter especially enjoyed celebrating his 80th birthday this past August. Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Peter at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 10 - 10:45 a.m., followed by the memorial service in the Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m., Tuesday, with Rev. Kellie McComb officiating. A reception will immediately follow the service in the funeral home's Fireside Reception Room. A private family interment will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery, Waterloo.
