More than 30years ago Mr. Kieswetter was my teacher and coach at Monsignor Gleason school for grades 4-8. He was a thoughtful and supportive teacher who went above and beyond to challenge me to do my best and be my best both in the classroom and on the sporting field. I fondly remember sharing time with him on the basketball and squash courts. I am a better person having known him. My condolence's to his family. Sincerely, Lisa Rowe

Words escape me in articulating how much Harry will be missed in our lives. Harry was an extraordinary man who touched so many lives with his kindness, generosity and that special gift of making everyone feel important. He was always there to listen and offer a wisdom of advice that very few people are able to give. I recently asked Harry for some book recommendations and in typical Harry form, he wrote out a list of 2 pages, fiction and non-fiction with descriptions of each and why he thought I would like them. I feel very fortunate that Harry and Sue were such a big part of my life and I will miss Harry forever.

I would like to pay tribute to my principal and mentor Harry Kieswetter. I worked as a teacher under Harry's leadership at St. Aloysius school, at the beginning of my carreer 10 years ago. He was such a great support and leader. He treated everyone very special, he rovided mentorship and growth opportunity to me as a new teacher. He will be forever missed.
Rest in Peace!

Mr. K was my teacher for Grade 8 at Monsignor Gleason. If a student had a choice as to when he/she would want a teacher like Mr. Kieswetter, it would be Grade 8. He taught us so much about self-respect, love for others, taking responsibility - and those were critical learnings to take with us into high school and the next chapters in our lives. We lost a classmate and friend that year, and Mr. Kieswetter called each one of us the morning after the accident to make sure we were okay and that we hadn't heard rumours or stories from others or the news. I'll never forget that. And I will never forget him. My most sincere condolences to his wife Sue, and his children. Although I never met you, I want you to know how deeply sorry I am for your loss.

Dear Family and Friends of Mr. Kieswetter (as he will always be known to me, since I was in 7th grade when he taught me), I would like you to know what an outstanding teacher and individual Harry was. He taught me for one wonderful year at Monsignor Gleason in 1978-79 and was also a wonderful coach. He was an exceptional human being, going outside of school time to teach me squash and even buy me a squash racket for my birthday that year (which I became addicted to and played for more than a decade). I credit "Mr.K" with inspiring me to be a better student and person at that young age. I live far away now and only learned about his untimely death tonight from my Mother who is still in the K-W area. I'm not surprised by his recent accolades as principal and his charity work abroad. Best regards and condolences for your loss, Phil

Dear members of the Kieswetter family, Although Harry was only a year older than myself, and we went to the same schools, I really did not get to know him until I was Pastor of the Hispanic Catholic Communities of Waterloo, Wellington and Brant counties. We often used the facilities at St. Joseph's School, where Harry was Principal. We often sat and talked in his office, and I got to know the sincere, caring and gifted man that he was. He cared immensely for his students and their well-being, in particular those most troubled. I always thought that he had the students 'eating out of his hand' as they trusted and respected him greatly. He could be 'one of them' on occasions, yet knew how to be a fair and just disciplinarian when that was necessary. His love of life and his vocation of education were obvious on each and every encounter. I was always happy to help him with translating for Hispanic parents at St. Joseph's and St. Aloysius. He has made a difference in so many lives - including mine! I will be remembering all of you in these days at the loss of Harry - an exceptional husband and father, son and brother, uncle, colleague and friend. May our faith in the resurrection of Jesus from the dead give you peace, knowing that he is with his Saviour and still accompanies us spiritually. I have been remembering him in my Masses and prayers, and will continue to do so. God bless you all! Rev. Paul S. Voisin, C.R., Pastor, St. Patrick's Parish; Vicar General of the Diocese of Hamilton in Bermuda

Sue and Harry were the first people to befriend me once we arrived in Doha. They instantly put me at ease and made me feel welcomed. I always knew when I went to their apartment that I would be greeted with a "Candy!", a warm hug or shoulder pat from Harry and the [always] offer of a nice, cold beverage. That was Harry - he took care of everyone. The love that Sue and Harry had for each other was always evident. I am so sorry for your loss, as the world is a darker place without Harry in it. Take care.

Harry was such a genuinely kind and caring person, as are you Sue. I'm so sorry for your loss. You should both rest peacefully knowing that you've inspired all those around you in ways you may never know. Harry (and you) are role models for what life is all about:love and kindness. xo
Before you know kindness as the deepest thing inside,
you must know sorrow as the other deepest thing.
You must wake up with sorrow.
You must speak to it till your voice
catches the thread of all sorrows
and you see the size of the cloth.
Then it is only kindness that makes sense anymore,
only kindness that ties your shoes
and sends you out into the day to mail letters and
purchase bread,
only kindness that raises its head
from the crowd of the world to say
it is I you have been looking for,
and then goes with you everywhere
like a shadow or a friend.

We will never forget his kindness, generosity, his faith, and his love of education, and the way he touched so many students with his dedication, and his determination to make a difference in their lives, Harry's dream was to make sure that all students were able to achieve their goals, he was someone too, that always had an open door attitude, and he always listened to new ideas, and made them happen. My kids excelled under his leadership, and I will never forget how instrumental he was in getting me a job as a Educational Assistant in the Separate School Board. Our thoughts and prayers are with Harry's family, may he rest in peace, God Bless you! and Thanks so much!

I had the pleasure of meeting Harry through my work with Family & Children's Services. He was principal to a youth I worked with for 8 years. This young boy did not have very many areas of success in either his school life or personal life. Fortunately in grades 6 to 8, this young man moved to the school where Harry worked. He blossomed there and was made to feel important and valued. He went on to graduate from St. Mary's High School, something that not many thought was possible. He is a young man now living in Sudbury and I know that Harry was one of the most influential people in his life. Thank you Harry for not only being a great educator but for finding the good in others and making them better for it! You will be missed.

He was so many things to so many people and everything to Sue. We will only pass through this world but once; Harry made it a much kinder gentler place for those of us blessed to have shared it with he and Sue. Look for his shining star in the night sky as I know he is there with love in his heart for all of us missing him here now!

We had the honour of meeting Sue & Harry shortly after their arrival in Doha. Instantly and naturally, we were like family. We had a group of us which naturally formed our 'Doha family' and we never missed getting together for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter (or for no particular reason) for a good meal and a beverage. (The eternal question was always "Are Sue's potatoes first course or dessert?") I'm not sure exactly what it was that linked us all so strongly. It was just a bond that was there. Harry had a presence that made you feel special. He was so humble in his amazing achievements. He spoke daily about how much he loved Sue, Kirby and Tyler. And he truly cared about people. I miss you, dearly, my friend. I'm going ahead with our crokinole plans and I'll keep my stick on the ice! Love, Sherry & Ryan
