Obituary of Jean Price

It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Jean Marion Price on December 1, 2011 in Kitchener. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Jean was pre-deceased by parents Herbert and Beatrice Price. She will be greatly missed by her brother Norman Price and his wife Connie and her sister Stella Wilkinson and husband Gordon. She was a dedicated aunt to nieces and nephews Douglas, Paul (Donna), Scott (Jen), Janis, Robin (Heather), Colin (Carmelle), Warren, Donna (Bruce) and Wayne (Dawn). She paid special attention to her great nieces and nephews Meghan, Jordan, Katelyn, William, Amanda, Sarah, Matthew, Brianne, Darren, Connor and Taylor. She was the greatest cheerleader at countless sporting events, performances and graduations. Jean graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Science in 1950. McMaster University awarded Jean Price the Edna Guest Trophy that is presented to the top female athlete who exemplifies the 'Spirit of McMaster.' She went on to coach women's basketball from 1950-52 and was inducted into the McMaster Hall of Fame in 1992 for her outstanding skills in Badminton, Basketball and Volleyball. Jean taught Physical Education and Science (Chemistry) with the Waterloo Region District School Board from 1953 to 1986 (KCI, ECI, GCI). She was a supportive department head and successfully coached many championship sports teams. Jean will always be remembered for her passion for sports, whether on the golf course, in the curling rink or in the stands of a TiCat's game and was a long time member of Westmount Golf and Country Club and KW Granite Club. Together with her many friends she enjoyed live theatre, and extensive travels around the world. She lived a rewarding life full of adventures. ◦ No Visitations.
