Obituary of Del Blanchette

Passed away on Sunday, December 4, 2011, at Freeport Hospital at the age of 71, a short two months after being diagnosed with cancer. Del will be truly missed by his wife and best friend Jo-Anne, his children Trevor (Susan), Tracey (Jeremy) and Jason (Carolyn), grandchildren Christopher, Cooper, Noah, Jenna and Alex, and sisters Barbara (Jean Pierre) and Beverly. He is also mourned by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Del was predeceased by his parents Beatrice and Roy. Del started his business career with the T. Eaton Company, and held several management positions in both Montreal and Toronto. In 1979 he purchased his first Canadian Tire store, and over a span of 25 years owned stores in Ontario, Alberta and Newfoundland. He retired in 2004 from his final location in Kitchener, and in retirement enjoyed golfing, hiking in the Rocky Mountains, travelling abroad and spending winters in Florida with family and friends. Visitation will be held at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. followed by a funeral service in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. Reception will follow.
