Some of my fondest childhood memories include the Palubeski family. Our parents' friendship meant that we, as children were friends. I remember when "Joe" left to go to seminary -he seemed so young!. His amazing and busy priesthood that took him away from Kitchener still allowed him time to spend here for special events --family celebrations, weddings, births, deaths were so special to him. We had the good fortune to be included in many of these special times. Father Joe officiated at our wedding more than 40 years ago and he was always interested in what was happening in our lives. I was blessed to have a phone visit with him the day prior to his surgery--he seemed so at peace and willing to accept what ever the outcome would be --little did I think that would be our final visit. Our deepest sympathy to Bev and Marilyn and their families--he will be missed.

Dear Bev and Joe, Marilyn and Ron, and all members of the Palubeski family, Please accept my sincere prayers and sympathy at the loss of our dear brother, Fr. Joe. He will be greatly missed in our Resurrectionist Community in Bermuda, as well as in St. Theresa's Cathedral Parish, and in the Couples for Christ movement. Fr. Joe was known all over the island, in particular in St. Anthony's and St. Theresa's, where he served. Here at St. Patrick's there was an audible gasp when I announced, at the beginning of Sunday Masses, that Fr. Joe had passed. Everyone knew of his sincere and generous spirit. He was a great listener, and was easily engaged in the life and interest of others. He was a thorough minister who took time and effort to prepare people well for the Sacraments, and to deepen their spiritual lives. His smile and gentle spirit was capable of transforming others. He spoke to me often of his family and I know how much he treasured every opportunity to share with you. His zeal to serve the Lord made him a missionary - living away from you - in Jamaica, the U.S.A., and now Bermuda. This was a great sacrifice for him, but one he offered to the Lord with love and joy. He religious life and his priesthood were great gifts that made him who he was - whom we loved - and he desired profoundly to work for the resurrection of society wherever he found himself. You have every right to be proud of your brother, uncle and cousin! Fr. Joe was a great gift from God, and I had the opportunity to share with him many times in Kitchener-Waterloo, Brantford, Rome, and Bermuda. I will miss him greatly, as we often got together here in Bermuda. He is in our Masses and prayers throughout the island, and we will all be accompanying you in spirit during the following days. God bless you all! May the Risen Lord - whom Fr. Joe knew, loved and served - give you all peace and consolation that dear Fr. Joe now shares in the eternal life that he preached about so often. Rev.
