Obituary of Russell Oakley

Russell George Oakley Jr. born April 28, 1928, completed his life on earth Friday December 16, 2011 in the presence and thoughts and prayers of all his 'darlings' and his friends. Happily married to Anne (Schiebel/Straus) and much loved member of many 'inherited' brothers and sisters (Straus family). Loving father of Kimberly Cavanagh and Warren, Gregg Oakley and Thomas Oakley. Cherished 'Poppa' to David and Colette, Gary and Clivia Schiebel; dear grandfather of Rory (Angela), Kyle, Neil and Katie May, Jason (Melissa), Jamie (Sirena), Jessica (Gianni), Joshua (Danielle), Crystal (Mariano) and Danielle. 'GG-pa' to Sloane, Asher, Brayden, and three more blessings on the way; brother-in-law of Judy Oakley and uncle to Tanya. Predeceased by his parents Russell and Rose; wife May and brother Gerald. Russell lived his life in Kitchener, working at Kaufmans and B.F. Goodrich/Epton Industries. He loved family gatherings and picnics with family and friends. Using his dry sense of humour, come backs were quick and funny. His persistence added years to his longevity. He loved to HUG and play tie jokes. A memorial reception to celebrate Russell's life will be held in the Fireside Reception Room at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday December 20, 2011 from 11 am to 2 pm. Cremation has taken place.
