Obituary of Erika Begeman

Passed away peacefully at Luther Village on the Park in Waterloo on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the age of 91. A woman of courage and compassion, Erika's strength and determination led her family through the aftermath of war from Germany to Canada, where she built a new life with them. Her creativity found expression in her art work, poetry and stories. She will be remembered for her kindness and her unique and vibrant spirit. Erika is survived by her husband of 67 years, Heinz Begemann; her daughter, Julia Frittaion; granddaughter, Elissa and her husband Richard; and nieces and nephews in Europe and the U.S.A. A memorial service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 78 John St. W., Waterloo on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Krestick officiating. A reception will follow at the church.
