Dr. Gingerich brought me into this world almost 40 years ago, and to hear of this tragic loss of he and his wife is still hard to believe. To the children, grandchildren and extended families, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. He helped and saved my life in more ways over the years, that I will never forget this kind man. I loved that as an adult in my 30's, he would talk to me about a surgery I had when I was 18 as if it were just the year before. He also would ask how my mom was doing when I was in, or would ask my mom on her visit's how I was. As I had my own children, he would ask how everyone was doing, and I'm sure he was like that with all of his patients. I remember when his first grandchild was born, and he had to take me to the back, where the pictures were on the wall to show and talk about how happy he was to be a Grandfather. He was a kind and gentle man, and will never be forgotten. Please know there is a community mourning with you, and you are in many prayers to help you get through this very difficult time. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Meredith and Jeff, I only just heard the tragic news about your parents yesterday, and my heart goes out to you and your families. I remember your parents very fondly. In fact, I often think of your mom when I go to my shelf of cookbooks, and remember her amazing collection and the system she had for keeping track of her favourite recipes (and think that I should institute such a system myself!). I remember your dad as a happy, funny guy with a great sense of humour. Wishing you all strength and comfort.

To the family of Ron & Lois: I am so saddened to hear of the tragic loss of both of your parents. Ron was a classmate of mine at Rockway High School & Lois was a friend before they married. I came from California to celebrate our 50th High School Reunion in Nov 2010. What a wonderful time we had remembering old times. I especially appreciated discussing his medical career since I left Canada after graduating from South Waterloo Memorial in Nursing. Some of my Nursing classmates worked alongside Ron. He was respected for his compassionate care. Please know you are in my thoughts & prayers at this time of grief & loss.

David, Raymond, Mary, Jeffrey, Meredith and families. Kelly and I would like to send our thoughts in our hearts out to you. Ron was very dear to us. He was our family doctor for 40 years. Saw us through puberty, delivered our children, made house calls when Kelly had his accident in the 80's and made house calls to my parents house when they were dying of cancer in the 70's and 80's. We laughed and cried alot about our growing pains, shyness, families,grandchildren, as he became an extention of our lives as Dr. Ron. He spoke of Lois and his children and grandchildren with pride,his eyes always lite up. He always made it very easy to talk, and we as well as he felt quite at home with his knitted slippers at Grandview. His smile and laugher will never be forgotten. Our extention has been severed. May Ron and Lois souls rest in peace. Dust to dust, ashes to ashes. God's angels have been called. They will be your guardian angels forever. They will be sadly missed by us all. Dear Jeff, Meredith & Families I am so sorry for your tragic loss. I feel truly blessed to have worked with Ron at Grandview for many years. He was a lovely, warm hearted, kind gentleman. His plaid shirts, socks & birkenstock sandals were definately his trade mark. We the staff at Grandview feel this tremendous loss also. His wonderful sense of humour and jovial laugh are things I also remember of him plus his love of food. Ron and your mother Lois will be forever remembered by myself and the staff at the clinic. I was about to start kindergarten in1968 and went to Dr. Gingrich for a checkup. I was very shy, and to my parents' embarrassment I crawled under the chair when he wanted to check my ears. Dr. Gingrich didn't bat an eye. He just got right down there with me, and I fell in love as only a five year old can with a kind adult. Then I started kindergarten and the class was too big. They splintered off some of us and we met in a small church, and my teacher was Mrs. Gingrich. And I loved her with utter devotion. I treasure my memories of that time. May you, their family, find solace in lifetime of memories. My thoughts are with you.

Words cannot express the impact that Dr Gingrich had on so many lives. I had the honour of sharing all my lifes changes and "aches with him since I was 4 years old, until his retirement. He always made me laugh with his jokes and smiled his way through learning the "computer stuff". He will always be remembered for his smile, his gentle ways, kind heart and his socks and sandles!
