Obituary of William Goodwin
At the grand age of 102, our dear father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Bill Goodwin, peacefully made his transition into the next stage of his journey at Nithview Community, New Hamburg, Ontario.
Pre-deceased by his beloved wife Irene (2002), five sisters and two brothers.
Fond memories of Bill will linger forever in the hearts of his daughters Joy Goodwin-Cooper of Waterloo and Rohanna Goodwin Smith of Gibsons, B.C.; granddaughter Nadine Starr (Gary); grandsons Hamilton Jones and Karson Jones; great-granddaughters Maren Jones Kernan, and Samantha and Sarah Starr; as well as nieces, nephews and friends.
In Bill's 20's, after apprenticing and becoming a master-baker, in partnership he opened and operated a chain of fourteen bakeries in Ontario. Bill retired at sixty-two going on to enjoy many happy years with Irene square dancing, painting, traveling and 'snow-birding' in Florida. For over sixty years Bill was a dedicated member of various Unity churches. His faith, positive attitude and healthy living were a constant source of inspiration to his family and friends.
Bill's family are deeply grateful for the friendship, loving support and quality of care provided by the staff and volunteers of Nithview Community.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St S., Waterloo on Sunday, January 29, 2012, from 2-3 pm. A celebration of Bill's life and words of tribute and remembrances will be shared at 3:00 pm in the Fireside Reception Room. A reception will follow.
