Obituary of Bruno Friesen
Passed away on February 27, 2012 at Ottawa Civic Hospital. Bruno was born on May 23, 1925 in Westbourne, Manitoba and grew up in Waterloo and Kitchener.
Predeceased by his parents, Gerhard J. and Olga (Schellenberg) Friesen; his siblings Oscar, Marie and Richard.
Survived by his wife Helga (Meyer), his sister Sara Cosentino, and his brother Gerhard and sister-in-law Kathie, and many nieces and nephews.
Bruno was a graduate (B.A., M.A., M. Phil) of the University of Waterloo. In 1970 he and Helga moved to Ottawa where he taught English at Algonquin College until his retirement in 1990. He was an avid hunter and a long-serving volunteer at the Canadian War Museum.
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Bruno's wishes, there will be no memorial service.
