Obituary of Lionel Hamilton

Known to many in the local area as husband, father, grandpa, friend and teacher. Lum died peacefully on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 surrounded by his family, after a brief but courageous fight with cancer. He is survived by his loving soul mate, Thelma (nee Snider); father of John (Deone) and Jane (Darren); grandfather of Raechel and Julia of whom he was tremendously proud. Sadly missed by his sister Susan Hamilton, sisters-in-law Merlyn (Stuart Martin), Carol (Mel Bauman) and Yvonne (Dan Nighswander). Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Ruby and Ian Hamilton, sister Heather Furlonger and baby brother Scott. Following Lum's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held at Parkminster United Church, 275 Erb St. E., Waterloo, on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Lum's life at the Church on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. Lum's family thanks the amazing medical staff the Cancer Centre and most recently at the Grand River Hospital, A.C.O.U.
