So many things came to mind today as we said good-bye to Lonny, but speaking up today was too difficult, as I'm sure many others felt also. I was about 15 years old when Tammy first brought me home to meet "Mom and Lonny". I believe at that time, I didn't leave the best first impression. They thought I was a bad influence on Tammy, but over time, he never let me believe I was anything less than family, always welcome in his home. I spent so much time on Morgan Ave unit #13, with Tammy, Eddie, and Tony and of course Lonny and Ursula. We went to many Untied Taxi dances; every holiday occasion throughout the year had a "United Taxi Dance". New Years Eve was also a special occasion as it was Lonny's birthday. We spent many years together, as family, playing charades, having a BLAST!!! I'm sure it was Lonny trying to help tie Tammy up to act out "Of Human Bondage" I don't think most of us had heard of the book, much less read it or seen the movie, but it was fun trying to act it out, a title I will never forget. Then, of course, there was Miller Lake. Ah, the trailer!! It was Lonny that took me out on my first motor boat, fishing poles in hand. As with his own son, I too caught my first fish with him, a pike at Miller Lake (a real fish Tony). Not only did I catch one pike that day, but I caught two. My very first fish (which I still have) it was a great day!! My little red truck, my Ranger, (which ran me over the day I bought it, darn emergency brake) he sold it to me just after I had taken it driving...where else but at the trailer. I held on to that truck for 9 years, so hard to let it go. So, today we said good-bye, to a beloved friend and family member. My heart goes out to all who's lives he touched, to his friends and family, he will be sadly missed.
