I am not sure you read this tribute/site currently but thought I would share with you how I remember Tanya. I met Tanya when I was 17 back in 1990. I just decided today to search the internet to find my old Junior Rangers buddy and was deeply saddened to hear of her passing. She was a shining light and always fun to be around. At 17 years old, it seemed like we made friends for life at Junior Rangers. It was the most memorable summer of my life and she was a good part of it. She was always fun to be around and a genuinely nice and caring person. Right now I can visualize her smile and silly antics we did at JR's. My condolences to the family (9 years on)... I am still in shock as I write this. Even though we lost touch many years ago, I often thought of that summer and the friendships that were made. Big hugs to the family.

I am reading your post on the twelfth anniversary of Tanya's death. I am so lucky to say that I was a good friend of Tanya's. My kids are the same age as Tanya's girls. We met when our oldest children were 6 months old. I thought our kids would grow up together. I thought the world of her girls and cherished our friendship. I miss Tanya dearly. I often listen to the song "This is What It Feels Like" because it expresses how I feel even to this day.

Sadly I wasn't able to make it to Tanya's funeral because I didn't have a sitter for my children. I had been thinking of her and her loved ones all morning. Around 11:30 the kids and I went out to run errands. The direct route to the expressway from my home is via University Ave which means I drive by Parkview cemetery. When I first left my house the rain was coming down so hard I could hardly see through the windshield but as I approached university ave the rain suddenly let up. I saw a very moving scene that I wanted to share with the family. It was a very dim day and I saw Tanya being laid to rest and behind her was a sea of colourful umbrellas. All of these bright umbrellas wrapped around the bend in the road at the cemetery and resembled a rainbow behind her. It was such a moving image to see as I drove by.

We shared many special times with Tanya and her clan. Just last week, we had a very nice time with Tanya at Lily Praskey's birthday party. I hadnt seen Tanya since she worked part time for Community Living Cambridge. She came in as a PSW student and did such a wonderful job that I hired her. She was a wonderful person and gave a tremendous amount of care towards the individuals. Tanya worked right up until she went into labour with her daughter during her shift even! I hadn't seen Tanya in many years. But some of my fondest childhood memories are of Tanya, Bianca and my sister Natalie playing in St Jacob's, at her Opa's or at the shop. And although our paths had not crossed in such a long time, I was always able to stay up to date through the EDSS, FB and German friends connections. I will always remember her infectious smile and the fun we had as kids. Claus, Annette and Bianca, I cannot begin to imagine the pain that this loss has caused you. My thoughts and prayers are with you....and with her husband and daughters.

Words cannot express the pain that we are feeling over your loss of Tanya. It was only a few weeks ago that we were all glued to your computer in Florida sharing beautiful photos of Tanya and your family.As I looked at them, I could visualize her as a young child and it brought back warm memories of her energy and gusto.She was always right in there,Claus, "helping" you with your "fix-it" projects. She was one of a kind whose talents and antics will always be cherished.
