Obituary of David Thorne

Passed away peacefully, following a brief illness, with his wife and 5 daughters by his side, at Lisaard House on March 22, 2012 at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Jean for 60 years. Dear father of Susan (Bryan) Thorne-McCaffrey, of Kitchener and their children Samantha, Shannon and Alex, Sally Thorne (Paul Dorian), of Toronto and their children Jennifer (Darrin) Moss and great-grandson Owen, Katie and David, Sara (Paul) Thorne Van Damme, of Waterloo and their children Jane, Jill and Jack, Sheri (Scott) Thorne-Hall, of Ottawa and their children Hannah and Matthew, Sheila (Paul) Lynch, of Oakville and their children Abby and Izzy. Prior to retirement David was a Corporate Executive managing automotive manufacturing plants in Ontario and the U.S. A gentleman with great presence, he always acted with integrity, compassion and a great respect for others. At David's request there will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A celebration of David's life will be held at St. John the Evangelist Anglican Church, 23 Water St. N, Kitchener on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 1 pm, with the Rev. Cannon Christopher Pratt as officiant. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall. A private family interment will take place.
