Elizabeth Sweetman

Obituary of Elizabeth Sweetman

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones to go home to the peace of the Lord on April 8, 2012, at Parkwood Mennonite Home, Waterloo. She was in her 93rd year. Predeceased by her beloved husband William Fredrick Sweetman, brother George Little and sister Margaret Manning. Much loved Auntie and second mother of Lee Ann (John) Colangeli, Earl Manning (Becky) and Alan Manning (Shelly and family). Survived by her cousin John Johnston and family (Kay, deceased). Although Betty never had children of her own she was blessed with a large family of the heart. She always held a special place in her heart and life for the Chittenden family, Updike family, Young family, Harris family, Holmes family and Taves family. Betty was a faithful servent of God, and was the longest standing member of St. George's Anglican Church, North York. She was a woman small in stature but great of heart, always willing to help others. Betty was a woman ahead of her time and retired at the age of 72 after working for many decades as an Executive Assistant at the Toronto Board of Education. She and Bill had a wonderful life together and spent many summers together in Honey Harbour and Vancouver. Special thanks go to Parkwood Mennonite Home staff and faithful volunteers (PAT) for their wonderful and compassionate care, especially at the end of Betty's life. As per Betty's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service is to be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto on June 16, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. All are welcome. Condolences for the family and donations to the Canadian Cancer Society may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S. Waterloo, at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
