Betty posted a condolence

From: Betty Anyone who knows Tyson and is on his Facebook site, would hear a song called “Shadow Days”. He said that he knew dad was speaking to him. When Kate made the DVD slideshow of pictures of Dad that you have seen here, she put music from 2 songs on it. One was Elvis, the other “Shadow Days”. For some reason (unknown) Elvis’s song did not record on the DVD. At 3:00 this morning, I felt Steve was letting me know his Shadow days are over. He always said Elvis was the King, but I know his Shadow Days are indeed over and he is in the light ns warmth of Our Heavenly father.

“Just let me ask my dad”: To my beloved Father-in-Law: I read this at his funeral through tears of sorrow. I was honoured to have been his daughter in law. In my life there are 3 very important men and one little man in training. My father, my husband, my son, and my father in law. To me they are all great men. Men that make you smile and laugh but my father in law was a man of honour, honesty, smiles, seriousness, a hard worker, a fisherman, a collector and he had a tremendous love for animals especially dogs. He was a son, a husband, a father, a brother, a cousin, an uncle and a Gramps. I knew Steve from the time Trent and I started dating which is about 20 or more years ago. He was a man who would say something and you would find yourself wondering if he was serious or just joking? It took me several years to understand that he was always just joking a quality that I came to love about him. He was also the type of man that would give you the shirt off your back. I titled this tribute, “Just let me ask my dad”. What seemed like a minor annoyance at the time I have come to realize was a very powerful statement of what kind of man Steve was. As we began our married life together “just let me ask my dad” became a repeated phrase in our household. Trent and his dad loved to hash out ideas and dad always gave intelligent and caring input based on his life experiences and he helped us because he loved us so much. Dad taught us the important things in life. Some of them we learned and some he was still trying to teach us. For example, he would say if you build anything, build it to last and … Nothing lasts without frequent maintenance and above all, work hard -and don’t quit. Little did dad know we were not following his advice, but his example. These lessons have filtered through our family and the decisions we continue to make. I know there will be many moments in our future when we will be wanting to “just ask dad”. Dad had a quiet faith that helped him through the difficult things in life and Trust me he had his fair share. He was a loving husband to our mom and a devoted father. When I met Steve Tyson was just 8 years old. I watched him raise Tyson and help shape and mold him to the man he is today. He was the most amazing Gramps. Max loved how Gramps could fix anything, find anything on EBay and always had coins for him (if he would just pick the correct hand they were in). Max has stated many times that he knows Gramps is in Heaven and has no more pain. I also had the honour of meeting is friends. I know his friends depended on him as we did because they saw the amazing qualities and talents he had and people were drawn to him. Through Steve I became part of a large extended family and I know that he loved his parent, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. So the next time our family comes to a point when we need to make important decisions and we need faith and encouragement – it will be through our ever loving relationship with him in heaven that we will “just ask dad”

In June of 1998 the Webbers and the Simpsons became extended family. We have enjoyed many memorable and happy occasions together. You and Steve shared your special son Trent with our family and we love him dearly. We witnessed Tyson grow from a young man to the caring person he is today. We are so very, very sad by Steve's passing. He was one of the truly good guys. Betty, we look forward to our times together in the future with our shared Grandson Max. All our love. God Bless you

Our deepest condolences to the Webber family. Betty, Trent and Tyson you are in our thoughts and prayers. Steve was a great man. I was reflecting on some childhood memories I have spending at your house on 3rd Ave. The one I enjoyed the most was I believe was on Steves birthday party. Trent and I thought it would be funny to try and scare Steve. I hid in the fruit cellar and Steve got the last laugh by locking me in the cellar for ten minutes. We thinking of you.
