Obituary of Francis Kieswetter

Frank passed away peacefully at Trinity Village Care Centre, Kitchener, on Saturday, June 16, 2012 at the age of 87. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (Elsie) Kieswetter, whom he married in 1947 and loving father to sons Richard (Linda)of New Hamburg, Gary (Deb) of Waterloo and Dennis of Calgary. Grandpa will be remembered fondly by grandchildren Kevin( Dee)Kieswetter of Waterloo, Brian Kieswetter of Toronto, Lori Kieswetter of Kitchener, Stephen( Stephanie)Kieswetter of Ottawa, Michael and Amanda Kieswetter of Calgary, Bryan( Amy)Thompson of Waterloo, and Rob Thompson of Fort McMurray. Frank will also be missed by great-grand-children Madison, Mason, Meghan, Zoe and Grace and by his brother-in-law Frank (Joan) Rymarchuk of New Brunswick and his sister-in-law Marlene Kieswetter of Waterloo along with many nieces and nephews. Godfather to Gerald (Maria) Kieswetter of Keswick. Frank was predeceased by his parents Simon and Maud of Kitchener and his best friend and only brother William of Waterloo. Frank was born in Waterloo and attended St. Louis Grade School and St. Jerome's High School. He spent many years as a truck driver for Koch Transport and Carling Breweries. While at Carling, Frank was also very active with Local 173 as union secretary. This led to Frank spending his final employment years with a large international union on a full time basis. Frank enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Surprising his family as Santa Claus was one of Frank's many pleasures. During retirement years, Frank and Elsie enjoyed spending winters in Florida and summers at their Sauble Falls cottage. Frank enjoyed playing card and board games, especially when he could claim victory over his daughters-in-law. He was an avid Blue Jays fan, even travelling on road trips with the Jays fan club. He also enjoyed curling and playing shuffleboard for many years. Frank was a former member of the Canadian Armed Services and a member of the Waterloo Legion Branch 530. Frank was a member of St. Michael's R.C. Church in Waterloo, serving as a church usher for a number of years. Special thanks to staff and management of Trinity Village for their care. The family will receive relatives and friends Thursday, June 21, 2012, from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo. The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, June22, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's R.C. Church, 240 Hemlock Street, Waterloo (Across from Laurier University). Cremation will follow and a family interment will occur at a later date.
