I like to think that with death comes peace and the sudden knowing and understanding of all things. I am so thankful for the last time that I saw you, I would have it no other way. No matter what; they can never take that away from us. No dying man should miss opportunities to make peace and I am so sorry that you were robbed of that. Time is fleeting and bitter souls will one day be left with the hollow shell where once was the chance at a life.

I miss you but, am comforted in the thoughts that you are now at peace, no longer in pain and with your Dottie & Joey once again. My memories are all that I now hold onto for which no one can take away. Holding me when my temperature had spiked up as a result of an ear infection so that the Doctor could syringe my ear, taking me home and holding a glass of water beside my ear telling me that a goldfish had come out. Lifting me high up into your Region of Waterloo sweeper to help you navigate through the streets of Elmira after the Sugar Festival & then filling my belly with sweets until I was almost sick; reminding me "now don't tell your Mom" because she would be upset with us as it was right before dinner. Taking me in the snowplow during stormy nights and allowing me to operate the plow, you taught me how to put a worm on a hook and tried to teach me how to cast even though I almost hit you in the head more than once; catfish stew was your favorite. Holding me and telling me that it would be okay when I didn't want to go to school as the kids used to tease me about my lisp. But some of the best memories have been during the latter part of your life with me; sharing memories of childhood and life in general. The lessons taught over the last few months Dad will be of those never forgotten and I thank you! As you lived, you have passed - on your terms. For those with whom you shared your true self, we are blessed for you had much to share and pass on. A man of many talents far too misunderstood with many passions and an uncanny ability to put a smile on your face when no one else could. I love you today, tomorrow and every day after.....until we meet again, my first and only one true love, my Best friend, my Rocky, my hero, my Dad! xoxo

When we lose someone we love,
We learn to trust somehow
That a new life in a brighter place
Is just beginning now..
A place of grace and peace and joy
Beyond all time and sorrow,
Where loving hearts who part today
Will meet again tomorrow.

Dad..my tears are streaming right now for the people who didn't get to know the real you. For the future generations that will miss out on the caring, compassionate, humorous yet spiritual side of you. I feel so blessed to have witnessed all of your gifts. Your ability to visualize a masterpiece from a block of wood and bring it into fruition was awe inspiring.I was so pleased to be able to show you that an hour early for appointments...really wasn't necessary. Your nickname "Rocky" was so fitting. Your strength, determination and pain tolerance was unbelievable. The nurses and doctors who tended to your needs all had the same thing to say "he's a good man". My heart is weeping Dad but my soul is saying it would be selfish to keep you in pain and agony with no quality of life. You are now at peace with Mom by your side and for that, I am truly happy. Thank you for all that you taught me...so proud...so glad that you were my Dad...will truly miss "Hi Weezy" and "Love you whole bunchers".

The things we got to share will be with me forever. The fishing trips the chats around the camp fire the turtle soup and who could forget the book that you and Orvie were writing together. Now you can finally finish it. Dad you were so sick and now you are at peace. We hated to see you suffering it ate us up inside but you battled like a trooper and I couldn't be prouder. We said our final goodbye today until we meet again... Love you more today than yesterday and even more tomorrow xxoo

Our moments at the fishing hole will all be cherished. I will remember every moment we shared when no one else was watching, teaching me how to pitch, eat popcorn on Saturday nights and watch corny movies like 'the blob' with the covers up over my head because you told me it might get me that night. Our visits to the popshop and grocery shopping and all the times you forced me to throw 100 pitches because it would help me get on the Blue Jays will eternally remain my memory. Let's not forget the fact that EVERYTHING I ate would put hair on my chest! And let's all sing a-long to 'fly me to the moona'.....until we meet again.
