Obituary of Martha Dugan
Martha passed away peacefully at her residence, Emmanuel Village, on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at the age of 95.
Predeceased by her husband, Matthew Clarke, her daughter Sharon and her siblings Arthur, Donald, Peter and Richard.
Martha enjoyed a wide range of activities from camping in the Rockies to attending Shakespearean drama in Stratford, from trolling for lake trout in Lake of Bays to square dancing at the Royal York Toronto. She enjoyed travelling, taking her first airplane trip in her seventies. She read copiously and took great delight in Scrabble, Boggle, and jigsaw puzzles. An accomplished cook and pastry chef, she turned family gatherings into gastronomic delights.
She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her son Patrick and his wife Kamalini, son-in-law John, grandchildren Pamela, Tom and Mark, great-grandchildren Aspen and Rowan, her remaining siblings Norman and Elizabeth and myriad nieces and nephews.
Her family extends a special thank you to all of the staff at Emmanuel Village who cared for and treated Martha as one of their own. Also, we extend our personal thanks to her personal caregiver Diana for her loving care and support of Martha and to the rest of us during these last few months.
Following cremation, a memorial visitation will be held at Historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 137 Queen St. S., Kitchener, on Wednesday, July 11 from 9:30 - 10:45 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow.
