RUTZ, Donald (Don)
1937 - 2012
Passed away peacefully at Lisaard House in Cambridge on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at the age of 75.
Beloved husband of Frieda (nee Fleischauer) for 51 years. Loving father of Deborah Pryce and husband Rev. Richard, and Linda Roeder and husband Paul. Dear grandfather of Michelle Roeder, Jennifer Roeder, and Ainslie King (Brian). Don is also survived by his brothers Larry Rutz (Audrey) and Frank Rutz (Marlene), sisters Janet Hunt and Julianne McKechnie (Ted).
Predeceased by his parents, Verner and Lovina (Herbst) Rutz, sister Frances Nutter, and brother-in-law Charlie Hunt.
Don worked for 43 years as a bricklayer and masonry worker. He was a life-long member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Waterloo, where he sang in the choir for over 50 years. Don enjoyed golf, bowling with the Lutheran Men's League, and Blue Jays baseball. He and his family were long-time members of LutheRanch (near Chatsworth, Ontario), and he liked nothing better than to be trying to make something work when everyone else had given up on it.
Relatives and friends are invited to share memories of Don during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, July 20 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church, 22 Willow St., Waterloo on Saturday, July 21 at 11 a.m. with visitation prior to the service from 10 - 10:45 a.m. Immediately after the service, a reception will be held in the church fellowship hall. Cremation with private family interment at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Breslau.
