Obituary of Wilfred Myra
MYRA, (Rev.) Wilfred Luther
Husband of the late Rhoda Myra, passed away peacefully, at Freeport Health Centre on Monday, July 23, 2012 at the age of 93 years.
Loving father of Keith (Cheryl) of Waterloo, James (Judy) of Louisville, Colorado and Eric of Ann Arbor, Michigan. Will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Tim, Aly, Elizabeth and Anna Marie. Also survived by his sister Ruth Short and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his brothers, George, Allen and Paul Myra, and sisters, Maude Bortner and Marguerite Freeman.
Wilfred served with the RCAF and the RAF in England and India/Burma during the Second World War. He was a graduate of Dalhousie University, Halifax and Waterloo Lutheran Seminary (Wilfrid Laurier University). He served parishes in Nova Scotia and Ontario and also served on various committees of the Eastern Synod including Outdoor Ministry and the Board of Governors of the Seminary and Wilfrid Laurier University.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Wilfred with his family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A memorial service to celebrate his life and faith will take place at St. Matthews Lutheran Church 54 Benton St., Kitchener on Wednesday, August 1 at 2:00 pm with Bishop Michael Pryse and Rev. David Malina officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will follow at Williamsburg Cemetery, Kitchener at a later date.
