I was very sorry to hear of Margaret's passing. She was a wonderful, caring lady full of grace and good humour. In spite of her own failing health, she was a staunch support to my mother, Pat Williams. They were tablemates for three years at Terrace on the Square and enjoyed each other's company immensely. Margaret was the main reason that my mother continued to make the effort to go down to meals up to a week before her death. And they had a good visit only one 2 days before Mom died when Margaret came to see her after she was bedridden. Margaret's memories of my mother and their ability in her words "to make trouble together and have lots of laughs" helped me a great deal after my mother's death. I know that you will miss her very much but you shoud know that even in the last few months, she was making a positive difference in the lives of all those around her.

Please accept my deepest condolences. Credie has been a wonderful support, friend, and influence in my life. She is a dear friend of my parents as well. During her visits to our home and at the Unitarian Fellowship she took me under her wing from my childhood and she and let me know that I was important, and interesting, and special to her too!. She and I took on several projects together including expressive art work in Sunday school, organizing the library at the Fellowship, and hosting my parents silver wedding anniversary when I was an adolescent. As the years went on our friendship stayed strong. She would often surprise me with little notes, treasured quotes and cards and special keepsakes that she saved or selected to let me know she was "rooting for me" as I set out for University and married life. She often dropped me a line about books she reading, artists, music, and antiques she had discovered. In her "wee notes" she would share her outlooks and the values of compassion, optimism, gratitude, grace, hope. I appreciated her efforts, actions and insights. I loved her and the way she offered her ideas and friendship so freely and naturally. She talked about the importance of doing all we can to support others with kindness, strength, and integrity. She has such a gentle charming manner, combined with great energy, spunk, and commitment. As I went on to have my own children she continued to show an interest, fascination, and love for all of us. She remembered our activities, and birthdays even up until the past year. Her caring actions have enhanced many lives, including mine. I will treasure memories and thoughts of Credie in my heart where they will continue to cheer and inspire me to be loving, compassionate, and to do my best.

To me she will always be Credie. Spunky, smart, funny, down-to-earth but so interested in current affairs and with a heart the size of a mountain. We lived a few blocks away from her and Jack, near the Unitarian Fellowship in London where they became friends with my parents. Some of my favorite memories as a girl of her include watching Anne of Green Gables and eating birdseed cookies. It was after Jack passed on that she met my Lebanese husband, and I still remember her telling him how very distraught she had been by the civil war in Lebanon many years before. It was hearwarming to think of Credie wringing her hands in her kitchen over the fate of people half a world away. I'll miss her.

We have fond memories of Margaret and Jack when they were members of the Unitarian Fellowhip of London. I remember buying 3 tiny Limoges plates that she offered at a garage sale. We still have those little plates on a shelf in my dining room. And Margaret bought my rhubarb squares. I think she bought some, took them home to try them, and then came back to buy the rest. I remember sitting in their little den with the stove making it so cosy. They were a very warm and welcoming couple.

I loved your mother! When I moved to Ontario in 1974 and became a realtor with District Trust, your mom took me under her wing! I was a young mother of two daughters. My husband and I were rural Saskatchewanites, so we were really out of our element in London! She was full of kind and helpful advice, and I often smilingly picture her as I reflect on something she told me that has stayed with me for nearly 40 years. She unsuccessfully tried to discourage me from eating pasta ("... there's no food value in pasta at all, dear!") and was so entertaining with her incredible sense of humour. Your dad was already retired and attending UWO as an adult student. One of you girls was still living at home and I recall Margaret renting an apartment for you (" I love her but it's time she moves out!"). Everyone at District Trust adored her. I lost contact and thought she had passed on years ago. To read that she is 95 is amazing! That means she was 57 when I worked with her and I was 26! She would be amused to know I am still a realtor with the London board, although I did move to Grand Bend in 1981. She has always had a special place in my heart, and I know you're going to miss her very much. I am so sorry for your loss, and so grateful that she played such an important part in my life, so many years ago.
