Its been a year since your passing, Dad, and while the loss is no longer fresh, it is still poignant. I know that this would embarass you, because you were a humble and unassuming person, but I tell my children stories of your exploits in which you have heroic status, because you were a hero to me. You were larger than life, braver than 10 men, able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, or so it seemed to me (still seems that way, at times!). It is because of your example that I am willing to do things with my children that scare me silly, because I remember that you were brave, and it made me feel safe, so I am brave for them. I remember how you used your skills with your hands and mind to solve problems and create useful things, and it made me realize that anything is possible, and I use my imagination and skills to solve our problems. I remember how hard you were willing to work to accomplish things, how you delighted in the challenge of pushing yourself to achieve a goal, so I work hard, and show my children how rewarding it is to reap the rewards of hard work. All of these things are are life lessons that can only be taught by example, and if I can teach them half as well as you did, i will be satisfied.

I will always remember and admire my Uncle Bud. Family was important to him and I felt honored to have been included in that circle of love . I saw him last around the middle of July and I remember receiving the most incredible and loving hug from him. He also thanked me for taking such good care of his sister( my mother) Life goes on but the the impact some people make on our lives last forever. He was one of those people for me.
