Obituary of Joseph Illig

Passed away peacefully at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital on Monday October 15, 2012 aged 88 years. Joseph (Joe) Illig, loving husband of Jean Illig (nee) Sargent for 63 years of marriage. Dear father of Joan Schneider-Cready (Trevor) of Waterloo, Jim Illig (Marlene) of Waterloo, Joe Jr Illig (Peggy) of Baden. Loving Grandfather of Jeremy Schneider (Elke) of Australia, Joshua Schneider of Cambridge, Michelle Illig of Kitchener, Jesse Illig of Baden and Chris O'Brien of Waterloo. Dear Grandfather of 6 Great Grand Children. Fondly remembered by his sister Rita Sheridan of Waterloo and brother Herbert Illig of Cambridge. Predeceased by his parents Alphonse and Rose Illig. Joe was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #530 in Waterloo, a founding member of the K-W Naval Veterans Association and a proud veteran of World War 2 and served faithfully on the HMCS Kirkland Lake. Friends are invited to share their memories of Joe with his family during a memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo, on Thursday October 18, 2012 from 6-8 pm. Cremation has already taken place.
