Obituary of Clarence Ausman

Peacefully on Sunday, October 21, 2012 at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, at the age of 81. Beloved husband of Lorraine (nee Schmidt) for 60 years. Loving father of Brian (Christine), Darrell (predeceased), Steven, Gregory (Doris) and Colleen (John). Dear Opa of Carina, Daniel, Talia and Sierra. Fondly remembered by sister Fern and brother Glen. Pre-deceased by parents Heinrich and Philipine, and brother Elmer. Clare was born in Neudorf, Saskatchewan in 1931. He came to Kitchener, Ontario at the age of 18 and worked in the rubber industry for over 60 years, beginning at BF Goodrich and continuing at Epton and later at Polycorp. He was still working part time almost right up until his passing. He and Lorraine bought a farm near Wellesley in 1969 on which he raised beef cattle until this past year. Besides working, which was a constant in his life, Clare enjoyed the company of his family and many friends including those from "the shop", "the farm" and "the church" - all catch phrases for some of the places and groups of people he cared most about. Throughout his years Clare volunteered in various ways in his community serving on the school PTA, Wellesley and District Board of Trade and as an elder at First St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The Ausman family will receive family and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Andy Schroth officiating. Committal at Memory Gardens, Breslau. A reception will follow in the funeral home's Fireside Reception Room.
