She worked many years as a nurse until taking time to raise her three children. Upon returning to work she remained a faithful optometric assistant for her sister Dr. Jane Newman for 22 years. She was an active member of CWL for 40 years taking her turn as a president while living in Maryhill. After she and Larry moved to Waterloo, Dorothy became an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes 11am Church Choir, the funeral choir and a very active member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and again taking on leadership roles. St. Vincent DePaul work became her passion - always assisting others as she did most of her life.Dorothy loved to garden, cherished her many friendships and loved to travel. Her travelling adventures never ceased until the last stage of her illness. She was blessed to visit so many places in her travels. Throughout her illness she remained an inspiration to so many, when asked by the cottage group she said "I am at peace, I am thankful for the life I have, and I accept what I have been given."
She truly loved throughout her life and passes that challenge to her survivors.
