Obituary of Lorraine Flatt
Passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Freeport Hospital, Kitchener. She was born in Winnipeg and was baptized in the Elmwood Mennonite Brethren Church. She completed her primary and secondary education in Winnipeg earning two degrees in English as well as two in music. Further studies took her to England and to Waterloo. She enjoyed teaching piano at the Beckett School of Music until health issues asserted themselves. In spite of severe limitations imposed on her by her illness, she found many projects that allowed the expression of her creative abilities. The art of jewellery-making with semi-precious materials was the last of these resourceful projects. She is mourned by her husband James Friesen, her mother Mary Flatt, her sister Linda, whose care she had devoted herself selflessly for the last ten years, one step-son George (Lise) and many relatives. She was predeceased by her father, Jack Flatt and an infant sister. A memorial service will be held at the Erb Street Mennonite Church, 131 Erb St., Waterloo on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 3 p.m. A reception will follow at the church. Condolences for the family and donations to the Mennonite Central Committee may be arranged through the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
