Obituary of Thomas Millen
Following a life filled with kindness, laughter, optimism and courage, Tom entered the Kingdom of Heaven on January 17, 2013 in his 69th year.
Tom was born in Teeswater Ontario, the eldest son of the late William and Marie (Weiler) Millen. As a Certified General Accountant, he was known for his passion for solving problems. Tom began his career at the Manitoulin Island Co-op and was later employed by Dare Foods, the Brick Brewery, Second Foundation and finally the parishes of St. Michael's and St. Theresa's R.C. Churches.
Tom's greatest pride and joy in life was his family. His legacy of unconditional love and tender guidance will be carried on by his children, Karen Klassen & her husband Joel, Amanda Ferrara & her husband Michael and Bryan Millen & his wife Venus. Always ready to go for a bike ride, read a story, do a puzzle, play a game or go for a round of golf. Tom embraced life with his beloved grandchildren Naomi, Lilah, Myles, Jacob, Andrew, Lauren, Venrick & Maui. Tom's generosity and kindness will be lovingly remembered by his siblings Rosemary Benninger, Betty Misener, Dave Millen (Bonnie), Doug Millen (Val), Lorne Millen (Joyce), Theresa Millen (John) & Steve Millen, as well as many nieces and nephews. Having caught the travel bug on a trip to China to help in the adoption of his granddaughter, Tom became known as a world traveler and enjoyed life's beauty with his best friend Nancy Pankratz at his side. It is said that a man is lucky if he has one true friend in life. If so, then Tom was abundantly blessed. So many friends have golfed, played and prayed with Tom, which was especially comforting to him during his journey with Lymphoma. Tom's strength and positive outlook throughout his life are an inspiration to us all.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Tom with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday from 2-4 and 6:30-8:30 p.m. Parish Prayers to be offered on Monday evening at 8:30pm, followed by a time of remembrances of Tom's life. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael's R.C. Church, 240 Hemlock Street Waterloo on Tuesday January 22, 2013 at 11a.m. with Fr. Tom Moisin officiating.
