Obituary of Herbert Horn

Passed away unexpectedly, at St. Mary's General Hospital on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at the age of 66. Beloved husband of 45 years to Audrey (nee Stubbe). Loving father of Christine Aberle and husband Stephen, Diane Stanley-Horn and husband Greg Stanley-Horn, and Sylvia Horn and husband Neil McDonald. Grandfather of Duane Aberle, Tyson Aberle (Emily), Vanessa Aberle, Jeddah Stanley-Horn, Nolan Stanley-Horn, and Simon McDonald-Horn. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Annemarie and Glen Lees, Judy Horn and David Arn, and Marlene and Frank Schilling. Herb is also remembered by Audrey's family, Jack and Wilma Stubbe, Rita and John Overgauuw, Hilda and Mike Dietrich, and Peiter and Gail Stubbe. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews and feline companions, Troy, Bailey, Brandy, and Daquiri. Predeceased by his parents, Georg and Marie (nee Stoffel) Horn. Herb's interests were wide-ranging and reflected a full and well-lived life. He was an accomplished professional musician and greatly enjoyed composing his own music. He loved to invest and was the family authority on financial matters. He enjoyed groan-worthy puns and reading about history, politics and economics. He loved nature and was knowledgeable about plants and flowers of all kinds, liking nothing more than taking a walk in the woods with his wife and beloved cats at the house he designed and helped build. Most of all, though, he loved his family. His wife, Audrey, his three daughters and three sisters, his late mother and father and all of his extended clan. His spirit, intelligence and humour are irreplaceable and he will be greatly missed. Cremation has taken place. A memorial visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, January 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held in the funeral home's Fireside Reception Room on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with eulogies and sharing of memories at 12 noon.
