Obituary of Fred Bunte

Passed away suddenly but peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in his 93rd year. He was predeceased by his first wife Else (1991) and his second wife Virginia (2003). He is survived by his close friend Lilli Schleiermacher, his daughter Wally Schmidt (Gunter) and his son Norbert Bunte (Audrey). Also survived by 4 grandchildren; Jeff Schmidt (Joanna), Emily Cosburn (Drew), Kyle Bunte (Kristin) and Sarah Rodrigues (Yvan) as well as 3 great-grandchildren Kieran, Zander and Vaughn Schmidt. Fred arrived in Canada in 1952 and spent much of his working life as a painter. He was a devoted member of Holy Cross Evangelical Lutheran Church. In his retirement, he built replica doll houses (for the granddaughters) and a replica of Holy Cross - for the children of the church. Fred was a founding father of Luther Village on the Park Retirement Home, where he lived for the past many years. He always had a smile for everyone and would give voluntary assistance wherever needed. A memorial service to honour Fred's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday February 2, 2013 at Luther Village, 139 Father David Bauer Drive Waterloo, with a reception to follow.
