The Story of Mom

For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven :a time to be born and a time to die .
Mom ( Doreen May) was born Dec 19,1922 .She grew up in Brockville On .She was the eldest of three children , her sister Margaret passed away Dec 24,2010 at age 90 and her brother Robert (Bob) passed away in 2004 at age 79.Mom married John (Jack) Sinclair and they had three girls ,Lisa ,Susan & Nancy .They resided in Burlington ON for about 47 years.Dad passed away in 2006 at age 83 leaving Mom without her necessary legal paperwork .At the same time we realized she had dimentia and no longer care for herself .This meant that we three girls must become her legal guardians and care for her and her estate for the remainder of her years.It has been a difficult and emotional process as in no time she she did not know who we were .She resided at Parkwood Mennonite Nursing Home in Waterloo On for the last 6 years of her life .Susan lived close by and was entrusted with the bulk of her daily care and concerns.Mom has slowly gone downhill each year .About two weeks before her death we were informed that it would not be long anymore .On Saturday Feb 23 we were all gathered at her bedside talking , and saying our goodbye's ,we could see it was close .She passed away at 3:15 am On Sunday morning Feb 24 .While we cannot know for sure we as family take some comfort in the hope that some small part of her brain recognized our presence and could let go .While we are sad , we are also releived that her suffering is now over .
Mom attended the United Church all her young life and with us a family for many years .Although she had not attended church for many years she always proclaimed beleif .With her passing we say our final goodbye and commend her spirit into the hands of God.
