Obituary of Mother Claire of the Blessed Sacrament O.C.D

Mother Claire died peacefully surrounded by her community on Thursday, March 14th at the Carmelite Monastery in Armstrong, BC. She was born in St. Paul, Alberta into a large French-Canadian family. At the age of 21 she entered the Carmelite Monastery on Lancaster St., in Kitchener Ontario on November 24th, 1955. She was their first Canadian member to make her solemn Profession on August 22nd, 1960. On August 15th, 1991, she left our Carmel, now situated in St. Agatha, to begin our new foundation in Armstrong, BC. With the support of many people, and under her leadership, the Community was able to see the construction of their new monastery under the title of St. Joseph. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Most Reverend David Munroe, Bishop of Kamloops, on March 19th at 11 a.m. at the Carmel of St. Joseph in Armstrong.
