Dad, Thinking of you on what would have been your 79th Birthday.
There is not a day that goes by that I don't hear a song or see a landscape on my way to work that doesn't make me think of you. I miss you so much!! As a little girl, my Dad used to sing a song to me. The song was called Buffalo Gal. It goes like this: Buffalo Gal won't you come out tonight, come out tonight,come out tonight and dance by the light of the moon. Gonna dance with the Dolly with the hole in her stocking, knees go a knocking, toes go a rocking, Gonna dance with the Dolly with the hole in her stocking, Gonna dance by the light of the moon!!!
Whenever Dad sang this song,I always seemed to have a hole in my stocking, and I used to get so angry at him. Today, I can still hear him singing that song to me and it makes me smile. Who would have thought, it would mean so much to me. A memory I will always hold dear to my heart

Someone brought cattle corn to the bonfire corn roast and it took awhile for any of us to figure out just why no one could eat it .Ken and Donny started laughing and slapping their knees...laughed 'till they slid off the straw bales and domino'd the rest of us into a laughing pile of fools.
This cowboy looked tough on the outside...and he could be tough if he had to defend a friend or discipline his kids or right a wrong....but he was sweet and loyal and funny.
Don's wonderful laugh just burst out of him and took everyone with it.

Can't stop singing this one dad; "Picture a cowboy, all dressed in red, fell off his sadle....... I know all of my siblings and Ken Skinner's girls can finish this song, but I'll spare everyone else the ending for now:-) This is just one of the many cowboy songs we sang sitting around the campfire. I will never forget these wonderful moments as a young child. Forever cherished !
