Obituary of Elizabeth Maher

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, Ontario on Monday, April 15, 2013 at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Cyril Maher. Loving mother of Edith (Bruce Nicholson), Bill Maher (Gail), and Joanne (David Byers). Elizabeth (Nan) will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Tamara (Curtis Sutton), Tyler Nicholson (Kristi), Sean Maher (Missy), Cole Maher, Ashley Maher (Alex), Lacey Maher, Janine (Mike Mann), Tiffany Byers (Peter) and her nine great-grandchildren, Tucker, Tessa, Mason, Kalli, Leah, Rowen, Porter, Colton and Ryder. Elizabeth is also survived by her sister-in-law, Kay Maher of Elmira. Elizabeth (Aunt Liz) will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews here in Ontario and in Newfoundland. Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, Mary and William Strickland of Harbour Breton, Newfoundland. She was the last surviving sibling in her family, being predeceased by brothers and sister, Simeon Strickland, Sarah Jane (Clyde Tibbo), William Strickland (Velma), Joseph Strickland (Rosie), and Thomas Strickland, all of Newfoundland. She was also predeceased by brothers-in-law, Gordon Maher (Mabel) of Drayton and Edgar Maher. Family and friends are invited to share their memories of Elizabeth during visitation with her family at the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 10 - 10:45 a.m. The funeral service will follow in the Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m., Thursday.
