Our sincere sympathy on the death of your mom. She was a woman with courage and conviction, a strong character, and a great friend to our mother, Joan Patterson. The Breithaupts(Lou and Betty) and the Pattersons(Ian and Joan) enjoyed many years of friendship, and great packed lunches at the ski hill!

I wish I could be with you all to celebrate Aunt Betty's life. One of my fondest memories of her is at - guess where - Wildrock, on Georgian Bay, as she helps Gary and I make our first blueberry pie. Then, fast forward many decades later. She is in Kitchener's Grand River Hospital after suffering a broken hip. After all she's been through, she finds the heart and the strength to reach out for my hand, clasp it tight, and, with that warm, melting smile of hers, tell me what a great nephew I have been. Then she speaks of how wonderful it would be to go back to Wildrock, "just for a day". Wherever you are Betty, my wish for you is that you may return there in spirit and in joy. Oh yes, and thanks for being such a great aunt. Love Jamie.

Aunt Betty was a friend and family member who shared the committments of Uncle Lou to the wider community. She has left an indelible mark on the lives of those who knew her and loved her. My mother, age 92, sends her love and condolences to the family gathering in Kitchener. We will honour her in our parish prayers this Sunday.
