My heartfelt condolences to the Gutoski and Karai families, and especially to all my Kuntz cousins. I last saw Doris 4 years ago at my mom's 95th birthday. I always thought Doris had a face like a sunflower, open and golden and smiling.Her photo here says it all. May she rest in peace. With warmest regards...Mary Catherine Howes (nee Padden).

The family of Doris probably don't know me, except Sandy and Jim Beingessner. I thought this would be a good time to turn back the pages of time and share some memories with which Doris would have been familiar.
My parents , Hungarian immigrants, were friends with the senior Karai's - it was a small community of Hungarians in the 1930-40s and we all knew each other. I can remember, as a little girl, playing on the big front porch of the Karai house while the grownups visited. Mrs. Karai (whom we children politely addressed as" Karai neni") made wonderful handmade rugs of which all of us Hungarians were happy recipients.
How fortunate that all you descendants of the elder Karai's were given a chance to experience a better life in Canada because of their courage and foresight. I,too, thank God, that my parents made possible a life of endless opportunities for myself and my family.
Unfortunately, I have only one picture of the Karai's with my parents. If you have any to share with me, I would be delighted.
My prayers for strength and comfort in this time of sorrow are with you.

So sorry for the loss of your mom. Aunt Doris was like another mother to me. I spent all of grade 8 eating luches there (your mom was a fabulous cook!) and I felt like one of the immediate family.
