Obituary of Bruce Goodwin

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce Gilbert Goodwin on Friday, August 16, 2013 at Sunnyside Home in his 85th year. Deeply missed by his daughter Shari Richter and her husband Mike and their children Eric, Cameron and Carmen of Kitchener. Remembered by his grandchildren Sarah Matchett, James Aissa and Jason Aissa. Also survived by his special friend Bernice Snatynski, his brother Wilson Goodwin of Alberta and sister-in-law Sheila Goodwin of Morongo Valley, CA. along with many nieces and nephews. Bruce was predeceased by his wife Lois (nee Keip) in 1993, son Michael in 1998, daughter Karen Aissa in 2000, grandson Jonathan Matchett in 2012, siblings Evelyn Stemmler (Elmer), Genevieve Clausing (Paul), Florence Hartung (Bert), George Goodwin, Milford Goodwin and his parents Allan and Susan (nee Weidenhamer) Goodwin. Bruce was born in Kitchener on September 6, 1928 and spent most of his life in Waterloo except for the years he was stationed in Trenton, Ontario as a member of the Air Force branch of the Canadian Armed Forces. He drove truck for many years and worked at J.M. Schneiders until his retirement in 1989. Bruce was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 530 in Waterloo for over 20 years and spent many Saturday afternoons at the Meat Draws. Friends are invited to share their memories of Bruce with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday evening from 5-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at 11:00a.m. in the Funeral Home Chapel. Reception to follow in the Fireside Reception Room at the funeral home. Rev. Shirley Ruller officiating. Interment at Parkview Cemetery.
