The family is sad to announce the peaceful passing of Sandra (Sandy) Wildfong at Freeport Hospital on August 17, 2013 after a two-year struggle with cancer. Beloved wife of Larry for 50 years, she will be missed by son Bob Wildfong (Sue) and grandsons Eric and Joe, and by daughter Deb Lacoste (Martin) and grandchildren Nicholas and Natalie. Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Lynne Wildfong of Victoria, B.C. and her family: Sharon and Robin Sutherland, Ross and Miriam, Scott and Lynn Kingham, Megan and Brian Kingham, also of Victoria. She was predeceased by her brother, Ken Borne, in 2010.
Sandy was active for many years with the United Church Women of Forest Hill United Church. For more than 20 years she organized the volunteers for the annual spring fundraising campaign for the Canadian Cancer Society of Waterloo Region. She was a long-time member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She enjoyed playing bridge as well as attending symphony concerts and local theatre productions. She and Larry travelled extensively in Europe and took cruises in the past few years. She enjoyed singing in church and community choirs.
At her request, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends and relatives at a memorial visitation at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home 171 King St. S. from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. on Friday.
A memorial service of celebration of Sandy's life will be held at Forest Hill United Church, 121 Westmount Rd. E. in Kitchener on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow.
The family wishes to thank the CCAC nurses, Dr. Keleher of the Hospice of Waterloo Region, and Dr. Schwarz and the staff at Freeport Hospital for their compassionate care and understanding.
