Obituary of Alexander McKay
Passed away at Freeport Hospital of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, on Wednesday October 2, 2013, age 75. Loving husband of Elizabeth "Betty" Kerr (nee Thomson) for 50 years. Father of Andrew James McKay and his wife Connie of Kitchener, and Kenneth Alexander McKay and his wife Joyce of Toronto. Grandfather of Rachael Ashley McKay, Michael James McKay and Stephen Alexander McKay.
Brother-in-law to Robert Thomson and wife Margaret, and May Ferguson, all of Scotland.
Alex was born in Dalmuir Scotland on June 25, 1938, and came to Canada March 1967. Alex worked at Budds, Omark, Cluthes and Waterloo Metal Stampings as a Tool and Die Maker and a Mould Maker.
Alex was involved with managing his son's hockey and soccer teams. He had many happy trips to out of town tournaments where he was able to meet with the parents of other players. It was during this time that his love for hockey blossomed and he became a season ticket holder for the Kitchener Rangers.
He also enjoyed time spent with his family during summer camping trips and travel abroad. He had the chance to visit Mexico, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Panama, Scotland, as well as other numerous places in the United States.
In accordance to Alex's wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to share their memories of Alex with his family during a Memorial Celebration of Alex's life in the Erb Kumpf Suite at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday October 5, 2013 from 2-4 p.m.
