Obituary of Donald Geiger

Donald Geiger passed away peacefully on November 3, 2013 at Freeport Hospital, age 89. Don was the beloved husband of Marjorie (Welsman) for 62 years, and the proud father of Theodore (Margaret), Celia (Ged), Glen (Sarah) and Peter (Susan). He was loved by his grandchildren Bronwyn (Dan), Rachael, Laura, Owen, Sydney, Jackson, Austin, Joseph (Rebecca), Michael (Kathleen) and Thomas (Nicole). Don is survived by his brothers Lewis and Kenneth. He was pre-deceased by his father Sidney Geiger, his mother Mary (McDonald), and his sisters Dorothy (Amirault) and Marilyn. Don was born in Webbwood and grew up in various communities in northern Ontario. After serving as a pilot in WWII, he studied medicine at McGill and then practiced medicine as a family doctor for 45 years in Kitchener-Waterloo. He had a special relationship with Freeport Hospital as both a doctor and a leader. The Geiger family wishes to thank the staff of Freeport Hospital for the wonderful care they gave Donald in his final days. The Geiger family will receive friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, November 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home's Fireside Reception Room. He will be much missed by family, friends and the community.
