Obituary of William Donohue

DONOHUE, William Lloyd George WWII Veteran, Sergeant, 7th Medium Regiment W. Lloyd G. Donohue, 95, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2013 at his home, Bankside Terrace, in Kitchener, ON. He was born March 16, 1918 to George and Marie Donohue in Listowel, ON. Lloyd served in the Royal Canadian Army, 7th Medium Regiment in WWII as an Artillery Sergeant and met his beautiful bride, Ruth Ellen Aitcheson (d. 2007) upon returning home from overseas. They married at Trinity United Church, in 1949. Lloyd had a long career of more than 33 years working for JM Schneider Inc. until his retirement in 1980. He was also a proud member of the JM Schneider's Ex Servicemen's Club and a Life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Waterloo, Branch 530. He enjoyed many family vacations at Sauble Beach, as well as numerous trips abroad including three to Holland in the 1990's returning as a member of the liberating forces. He will be sadly missed by his daughters Lynda (Ken Wilson) and Wendy (Peter Barr); grandchildren Kirk (Virginia), Kelly (Adam), Tara, Michaela (Jeremy), Tim (Ryan), Brittany (Evan), and Emma; and great grandchildren Alex, Jonah and Liam. Lloyd was predeceased by his parents, and sisters Florence Donohue and Cora Ziegler. Interment has taken place. The Donohue family wishes to thank the staff of Bankside Terrace Retirement Home for the sincere care and support shown to Lloyd while he was a resident. A special Memorial Service to celebrate Lloyd's life will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Trinity United Church, 74 Frederick St., Kitchener, ON, at 2:00 pm with Rev. Tiina Côté officiating.
