Obituary of David Ramsay
November 18, 2013 David Ramsay, in his sleep with his children by his side in St. Mary's Hospital, Kitchener, on the eve of his 91st birthday.
David was born and grew up in Montreal West. He was a lieutenant in the British Navy aboard the mine sweeper HMS Waterwitch and served in the Mediterraean theatre during WWII. After the war he attended Queens University, Kingston where he met the love of his life Lois. In 1948, they came to Waterloo when David accepted a position at Equitable Life where he worked for over 36 years. David led an honest life, well lived. His daily actions showed the love for his family, his friends and his community. Always thoughtful of others; with quiet determination; a self-made scholar; one who took responsibility in all his roles in life. Not many words were needed for David to touch all those who knew him.
David is survived by his four children Elizabeth; Alan and his wife Marilyn; Robert; and Gordon and his wife Maho; his adoring grandchildren, Anne, Kirk and his wife Tanya, Claire, Hope, David and Noe; his great-grandson Hudson and a sister, Alison.
A memorial service will be held at First United Church, 16 William St. W., Waterloo on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at 2p.m. with Rev. Dr. Bill Steadman officiating. A reception will follow at the church.
