Obituary of Aleksandra Pindera
At K-W Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener on Saturday, October 26, 2013, in her 88th year. Aleksandra was born in Piotrkow, Poland on December 2, 1925. During World War II she was a soldier in the Polish Home Army, distinguishing herself during the Warsaw Insurrection of 1944. Before coming to Canada in 1966, she was the technical editor of Poland's national sports magazine Kultura Fizyczna in Warsaw. Beloved wife of her late husband, Professor Jerzy T. Pindera of the University of Waterloo, she is survived by her loving sons, Marek and Maciej, both of the United States, and her sisters Krystyna Glabinska and Ludmila Rupinska of Poland. A Memorial Mass will take place on Friday, November 29, 2013 at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 240 Hemlock St., Waterloo at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Cornelius J. O'Mahony officiating. Inurnment will take place at Parkview Cemetery.
