Kikuko Morimoto

Obituary of Kikuko Morimoto

After a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease, Kaye passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Freeport Health Centre of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener. Predeceased by her husband and siblings Hisao Ogura (Miyoko, deceased), Mas Ogura and Michi Higo (Dick), she is survived by her younger brother Tad (Eileen). Born in Port Moody, BC to Yae and Ukichi Ogura, Kaye was among the many thousands of Japanese Canadians who were forced to move from their homes and interned in camps at the outbreak of WWII. The family settled in Toronto in the aftermath. Kaye was a loving mother to Lorraine (Wayne Osborne, deceased), Craig, and Lois Musselman (Ron). Naomi, Nathan and Aaron Musselman will deeply miss their cherished Nana. She will be lovingly remembered for her smile, genuine warmth and love of family. She was a good mother. Above all, she will be forever remembered for her unwavering devotion to the loving care and well-being of her son Craig. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Grand River Hospital, Floor 8 and the Palliative Care Unit, Freeport Health Centre, for their compassionate care. Friends are invited to share their memories of Kaye with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 from 7 - 9 p.m. and Thursday, November 28, 2013 from 10 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the Fireside Reception Room of the funeral home. A private family interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
